Williams is a 21-year-old defender who has made 33 appearances for Liverpool

Nottingham Forest have agreed a £17m deal to sign Wales defender Neco Williams from Liverpool, the club have announced.

Williams, 21, is a product of the Liverpool academy and has made 33 appearances for the first team, including 11 in the Premier League last season.

He has also been capped 21 times by Wales, making his debut in 2020.

Williams is a versatile defender who can play at right-back or centre-back. He is expected to be a key player for Forest in the Premier League next season.

Forest have been busy in the transfer market this summer, bringing in a number of new players as they prepare for their return to the top flight.

Williams is the club's ninth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Dean Henderson, Moussa Niakhate, Giulian Biancone, Omar Richards, Harry Toffolo, Lewis O'Brien, Brandon Aguilera and Taiwo Awoniyi.

Forest are back in the Premier League for the first time since 1999 and will be looking to make an impact in the top flight. They will open their season at home to West Ham United on August 6.
